Pedeguita y Mancilla REDD+

Grouped REDD+ project located in the municipalities of Riosucio, Carmen del Darién, and Belén de Bajirá, Chocó. 1st instance: Consejo Comunitario Pedeguita y Mancilla (COCOPEMA) — 48,791 ha total territory; 10,889 ha of eligible stable forest (REDD+ project area). ~3,086 Afro-descendant people in 17 communities / 7 minor councils (COCOPEMA self-census, 2019). Deforestation drivers: timber extraction, agricultural frontier expansion (extensive cattle ranching), illicit crops, and large-scale agroindustry. Estimated GHG reductions: 7,297,768 tCO₂e over 40 years (182,444 tCO₂e/year average). 2nd instance (planned): CC Jiguamiandó (54,973 ha) + RI Urada Jiguamiandó (19,744 ha) + RI Río Domingodó (24,590 ha).
